Houston Wedding Photography: Love Lee nominated for Houston's Best 2010!

"Whoa!" That's exactly what I thought when I got an email last week saying that I had been nominated for KPRC Click2Houston's Best 2010 - Wedding Photographer! I still can't believe it! Voting started yesterday and already my family has been campaigning for me to win. As important as their opinions are to me, I'd still like to know what you, my blog readers, think. Am I worthy of Houston's Best? If you think so, first off let me say, "Really? No way!" Thank you soooo much from the bottom of my heart! Here is a picture of Maddy trying on hats at a souvenir shop in Galveston. She still doesn't have much hair so she's always got a bow or a hat on her head when we're out and about :)

Houston Wedding Photography : Love Lee Glimpses

I left Texas on Sunday and headed west to California with my family. I got a chance to attend a really great workshop (The Style Lab) and take the family to our first trip to Disneyland. I wanted to post some sneak peeks of what I've been up to since before I left for California! As you can see, with all the sneak peeks I've been posting, I got a lot of blogging to catch up on!

So here you go...a wedding, an engagement, a bridal session, and a sneak peek image from the workshop!

Here's a picture that Edmond took of Madeline and I at Disneyland. We were riding the carousel at Fantasyland.

WPPI in Las Vegas

Yesterday I arrived home from Las Vegas. I spent the last week there for the annual WPPI convention. If anyone was looking for their wedding photographer the past few days, more than likely they were in Vegas. It was a great week of inspiration, learning, and of course, some Vegas fun!

The convention allowed me to meet and learn from photographers that inspire me, not just because they're successful, but because their work is truly amazing. There's meaning behind every image they capture. I was able to hear Elizabeth Messina speak to a ballroom full of photographers about loving what you do and being thoughtful in every image you show. She shared images that literally made me cry.

I was also able to attend Amelia and Justin Lyon's terrific workshop, The Lyon Shop. If there are any photographers reading this, I highly recommend keeping a look out for the next one. Especially if you're looking for a workshop that is on the opposite end of intimidating, will motivate and inspire you to be creative, and help you be a better photographer for your clients. Another workshop that I was able to go to was hosted by photographers Fred Egan, Jory Cordy and also Lara Casey of Southern Weddings. It was a mini workshop that was kept really casual and simple, but still saturated your mind with knowledge.

Finally, there was the trade show! It really made me appreciate what brides go through when they attend the bridal shows in Houston. So many choices! So many booths! So many people! I was a bride once, so this reminded me how exhausting it can be. The good thing is that I came home with a bag full of information that I know is going to great for all my Love Lee clients :)

I brought my camera and snapped some images while exploring Vegas with Julie. It was her first time in Vegas so I had to show her how gorgeous some of the hotels are. Most of all, I had to introduce her to a great buffet! My good friends Marianne and Abby joined us for a Sunday brunch at the Wynn hotel, complete with mimosas! Oh and yes, that is a picture of Julie on the floor...at the BELLAGIO...taking pictures. LOL!

Oh how I missed my husband and my daughter when I left. I cried when I said bye to Madeline. It was my first time away from her. It was hard at first, but once I got to Vegas, I was so busy that I managed just fine. Gosh I really missed my husband and my daughter so much! Here's a funny picture I took before I left. She was peeking over her crib and it made me laugh!

{Giving is Awesome}

***December 31, 2009*** I didn't get any valid entries for my contest so I don't have a winner to announce. But that's okay! I'm gonna think this one through again and maybe revise my "Giving is Awesome" campaign. Christmas time isn't the only time of year we should think about giving. Keep watching my blog for updates!

The coolest sounds I've ever heard!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of photographing a super cool event! Divisi Strings and LG Entertainment debuted their new sound, rightfully named "Collide." It was like classical meets hip hop meets rock and it was all packaged in a totally mind-blowing, bada$$ sound. I've never heard anything like it before and there were so many times that I just wanted to throw down my camera and dance! The party was presented by Chic Soiree Wedding & Event Design. As usual, Sabrina Patrick did an ultra fabulous job of designing a very classy and modern show. Everything was FANTASTIC!
